For W&M’s 2023 production of Romeo and Juliet in the newly constructed Glenn Close Theatre, I drafted and built two 1950’s party gowns, the pink and yellow ones pictured in the image above. The former was a recreation of an extant period garment from which I pulled a pattern and resized it to fit the actor and the design choices. (Please not the image below is the newly constructed garment, taken apart to facilitate alterations; the extant period dress was preserved in its original condition throughout the pattern transfer process.)
